Are you all ready for some landscape paintings? I never hiked as much in my life as I do now and it inspires me a lot. So here is the second round of impressions from hikes. I reconstructed all of them from memory and altered the motives themselves. For me it’s all about atmosphere and colors. I already did a Hiking Impressions post last week, so here you go with the second round of scenery paintings.
I gotta remind you: You can order every one of my paintings as print! Just mail me.
This one was mainly focused at the rainy atmosphere and the distant clouds being pierced by the sun. I loved creating those puddles.
“Looking at a sunset, just for a second you forget your separateness: you are the sunset. That is the moment when you feel the beauty of it. But the moment you say that it is a beautiful sunset, you are no longer feeling it; you have come back to your separate, enclosed entity of the ego. Now the mind is speaking. And this is one of the mysteries, that the mind can speak, and knows nothing; and the heart knows everything, and cannot speak. Perhaps to know too much makes it difficult to speak; the mind knows so little, it is possible for it to speak.” (Osho)
A very different palette I created here and it all came from a weird late glow of the sun letting the mossy feet of the trees shine in a surreal green.
I first did a sketch to find the colors, reconstructing from memory.. here you see a piece of the sketch:
Those paintings mark the transition from day to night and I still can’t believe what colors it created around me.
“When night falls
she cloaks the world
in impenetrable darkness.
A chill rises
from the soil
and contaminates the air
life has new meaning.”
(From Dunkelheit by Burzum)
