I started to do paintings where I tried to reconstruct certain impressions and colors from memory. To see more digital landscape paintings go here.
“There is a language older by far and deeper than words. It is the language of bodies, of body on body, wind on snow, rain on trees, wave on stone. It is the language of dream, gesture, symbol, memory. We have forgotten this language. We do not even remember that it exists.” (Derrick Jensen)
Who is Derrick Jensen you may ask? He is one of my favorite Authors in the theme of environmentalism and civilization critique.
This one I did after returning home and escaping an upcoming storm very closely. What I like about it is my different approach to the trees and the foggy feeling created by the rain, hiding parts of the horizon.
What I’ve still not seen anywhere is painting the sun as if it is burning into your retina. Here you go. I just blocked in the trees with selections and quick strokes so I could focus on the colors and the light. I still can’t say I hit the right colors.. but I think it still turned out believable.
“The divine is everywhere, even in a grain of sand.”
