The name Aynbath is composed of two words. “Ayn–” (heb. primeval nothing; אין) deriving from the hebrew phrase אין סוף (also spelled Ayn Soph or Ain Sof) meaning “unending” and emphasizing the nonexistence of attributes in the “nameless being”.
The second part is “-bath” stemming from the old english “bæþ”, a washing or immersion of something (normally the body) in anything amorphous (e.g. water) for cleansing or medical treatment.
It is – the – project of mine, depicting internal and external stories of characters in a spiritual fantasy world. Dream and reality, thoughts and imagination are melting into one big astral temple. Aynbath will take the form of a non-linear graphic novel series (One-Shots at first), but I will offer some of its panels as stand-alone prints.
“Dream is the personalized myth, myth the depersonalized dream; both myth and dream are symbolic in the same general way of the dynamic of the psyche. But in the dream the forms are quirked by the peculiar troubles of the dreamer, whereas in myth the problems and solutions sown are directly valid for all mankind”. (Joseph Campbell)
My approach is a more cinematic one, less text and more imagery, since pictures are the language of the soul. I don’t want to have comic pages spammed with bubbles. I want scenes to breathe, because I want to make it immersive. That’s the reason why I chose sequential art – the medium of the graphic novel – after long considerations.
I started out as fantasy bookworm in my teens. My soul felt connected. I felt there is more to it than just mere fantasy (and I started to create a world). As a result I tapped into mystical topics, even more inspired by the stories a friend and artmate of mine told me about magick and the spiritual. I grew older, gained more knowledge, but also struggled with a chronic disease.
“The agony of breaking through personal limitations is the agony of spiritual growth. Art, literature, myth and cult, philosophy, and ascetic disciplines are instruments to help the individual past his limiting horizons into spheres of ever-expanding realization. As he crosses threshold after threshold, conquering dragon after dragon, the stature of the divinity that he summons to his highest wish increases, until it subsumes the cosmos. Finally, the mind breaks the bounding sphere of the cosmos to a realization transcending all experiences of form – all symbolizations, all divinities: a realization of the ineluctable void.” (Joseph Campbell)
With time and after turning away from the shallow and limited mainstream worldviews, which also included the conventional medicine that mostly failed to help me, I realized my longing for a different approach to reality. Reflecting on my life as an alltime-outsider and putting together the puzzle pieces of mystic and occult knowledge I realized what I really want.
I want to use my skills to create something meaningful and beautiful. Aynbath will be my vessel to merge all my impressions and knowledge together. Picture-heavy stories as vehicle for growth and the weaving of a new reality.
I want to get back the lost archaic mystic entangled feeling. I want back awe and wonder.
You are me, I am all the gods. Some more, some less. We all have all the archetypes in us, therefore I wish to tell stories relevant to me/you, because we are all connected. We all have huge shadows, that ought to be faced. Everyone is part of you. I want to combine the fairytale-inspired and fantastic visual shell with symbolism, knowledge, spiritualism and personal truth. My biggest goals with Aynbath are to:
• Bring people into new information spheres they have not been aware of before.
• Create deep realizations and understanding of reality, interplays and self.
• Distill all my inspirations into intriguing fresh visuals combined with real meaning.
• Connect with likeminded individuals.
The Aynbath stories will hopefully one day be keys, that open gates in those who are destined to gain those certain realizations. Moreover I welcome you to message me, talk to me and get involved. I want to meet you in one way or another. Let’s empower each other. Let’s make reality, not just play along.
